    Hello,

It feels so much supportive reading all the blogs and experiences people are sharing about Vitiligo. My daughter is 9 years old and she was recently diagnosed with Vitiligo. We noticed a white patch on her neck few months ago and thought it could something related to Eczema or dry skin. Slowly, it stated spreading. Reading all the blogs, I confused where to start. It is very hard to find the reason behind her vitiligo. Is it really because of digestive issues or something else. Even if it related to digestion issues, how do we know what supplements and minerals I need to give her and what dosage….can someone help?

    Thanks

    Hi T.J
Thank you for all information! It is very useful! My son 6 years old has vitiligo in his fingers of hands. After checked some of vitamins, he has deficency vitamin D3, in low level. How i can give him this vitamin? Can be this causes of vitiligo? I am excpecting test lab result for gluten. Theroide and diabete and artitis test are negative. He has some alergy from cows milk that i have prevented it.
    Thank you

      Hi Carmen,

Yes, I am still seeing good results, although I have slacked off due to pregnancy and terrible morning sickness. You can check my Facebook page for updates. https://www.facebook.com/The-Vitiligo-Girl-TJ-151344275055276/

Hi, my son 8 years have vitiligo and I used a more amount of B12 and D and Omega 3 and vitamins and Ginko Biloba and it hearted his stomach and have headache, but it stopped the spreading. Now, I stopped using everything except laser and creams but the spread came back after I decrease the vitamins. What should I do ? I cannot go back to the increase amount of vitamins and see my son suffer and I cannot see the spots spread! I am so confused! I wish me and him accept it1

      Hi Layali,
Are you sure all of the vitamins were bothering him? And are you giving him the right doses?

      Hi,
My son 8 yrs old recently diagnosed with vitiligo, Doctor put him on steroid topical cream, what advice do u give?
It started as a penny size patch on his scalp so hair color changed to gray, but I just noticed that his skin color is also changing.
Very worried please suggest any effective treatment before it spread.
      Really appreciate your suggestion.

      Hi Layali,
My son, also 8 years old, and myself are suffering from vitiligo. We have been diagnosed about 2 1/2 years ago and have been researching information and trying various therapies since. One thing we have found out is that vitiligo is often found in context with various other auto immune diseases. As an example we have been diagnosed with celiac as well as histamine intolerance. Among others that again means that our liver has problems to convert passive vitamins into active ones which can be absorbed by our body. That again causes problems and pains. We had been on Dr. Thomas Matschurat’s medication (a combination of vitamins and micronutrients). We are still taking the supplements but replaced passive against the active vitamins. Now, we no longer have digestive problems. Combined with UV-radiation we were quite successful in gaining repigmentation. On recommendation of Dr. Matschurat we used the HelioVital filter film during our holidays last year. (There is a more comfortable sunshade solution, the HelioTent, available this year). It’s a special filter, filtering all negative/dangerous UV radiation, letting through only the positive radiation which is needed for repigmentation. We were astonished about the great result: My son had big vitiligo spots around the eyes. They were gone after the holidays. Because it is filtering all dangerous radiation, we did not need to apply sunscreen. Regarding the sensitive skin of vitiligo patients and the related high risk of allergic reactions, I really appreciate this (and even my non-vitiligo husband does, as he is not crazy about creaming!). So all in all we did not risk sunburn, even though we did have extensive exposure to sun. We made the most effective use of our holidays in the sun, precious time for intiating longlasting repigmentation and filling up our vitamin D depot – both of which cannot be achieved when using sunscreen.
To sum up, from my experience it is a combination of diet, taking extra vitamin/supplements (Vitamin B 6, B 12, zink, etc.) and exposing yourself to sun. For the latter I can really recommend the filter. Although I know that repigmentation cannot work without exposure to sun, I was always afraid of the higher risk in skin cancer when exposing to sun. And especially if you are trying to find an effective, yet responsible way to treat your own child one has to think about this issue…

Hi, can you give me some information about the “filter” you are talking about? Is this something you do at home or a Dr’s office?
Did you have to apply creams or oils before exposure?

Thank you for sharing and am excited to hear back from you.

Hello I found your blog by looking up XP desease vs vitiligo and thyroid desease.
I have vitiligo and now no thyroid. I am 65 yrs. old.
I moved to Florida at age 35 and started doing triathlons.
Completed 53 triathlons over 11 years. My skin ended up completely bleaching out to the point I am all white with no sign that I have vitiligo. People can no longer see any sign of vitiligo just that I look white with no skin tone. I do live in long sleeves and pants. So I think my exposure to the sun as I trained and competed in triathlons helped bleached my skin completely white. It’s a good thing because no one knows now. Randy now in South California

          Hi Randy!
Thanks for sharing your story :). You are fortunate, since most people with vitiligo would love to completely lose all of their skin tone for the sake of being able to have an even skin tone again.
